Secondary 1 Registration

Dear Parents and students,

A warm welcome to RVHS!  The Secondary One Registration Exercise will be conducted online and there is no need for your child to report to school.

In accordance to safe management measures, the purchase of textbooks and uniforms will be scheduled on a pre-arranged date/time slot after you have completed the online registration.  We seek your understanding that only a maximum of 2 persons (including your child) is allowed for the selected timeslot.

Online Registration

We will be sending an announcement through Parents Gateway directing you to the Online Registration Form. Otherwise,  you may wish to access the form here. Please complete & submit the online registration by 23 Dec 2021, 1pm. An acknowledgement email will be sent to you after you have submitted the registration.

Purchase of Textbooks and School Uniform

Due to safe management measures, purchase of textbooks and uniforms will be scheduled on pre-arranged date/time slot. To facilitate this arrangement, you can book a time slot from 23 to 24 December 2021 to purchase the textbooks and uniforms for your child via this form.  On the day of your purchase, please note that only 1 parent/guardian (fully vaccinated and has not received a Health Risk Warning SMS) and 1 child are allowed to come to the school.

You can refer to the Booklist and Uniform Size Charts before coming to the school on your scheduled purchase date.

Financial Assistance

Singapore Citizens in financial need can get assistance from MOE on school fees and other expenses.

Details on the eligibility and benefits for recipients of the MOE FAS can be found in the table below:

Income Criterion

Benefits for Secondary School Students

Gross Household Income (GHI) $2,750 or below;


Per Capita Income (PCI) $690 or below

Full waiver of School ($5/mth) & Misc Fees ($10/mth);

Free Textbooks & Sch Attire (2 sets of uniform, 2 pairs of socks and a pair of school shoes);

$180 transport credits per annum for those taking public transport;

$2.90 per meal subsidy of school meals, applicable to 10 meals per school week and;

Up to 80% subsidy for various school programmes (school policy)

You can download the MOE FAS application form or collect a copy at the General Office.  Submit the completed form with all relevant documents directly to the school.

If you have children in different government or government-aided schools, you can submit 1 application form to any of their schools. The school that receives the application form will inform you of the outcome.

To ensure you are well-prepared for the start of your journey with us, please note the following information:

a) Reporting Date & Time

The first day of school is on 10 January 2022, Monday.  Please be in school by 8.30 am.  There will be student ushers to guide the students to their classrooms when they arrive.

Due to safe management measures, please note that parents are only allowed to drop-off their children at the school and are not allowed to accompany your child into the school premises.

d) River Valley High School Parent-Teacher Association

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) recognizes the importance of parents’ participation on the learning journey of their teens.  You can find out more about the PTA here.

Personal Device for Learning Programme (PDLP)

MOE announced that every secondary student will need to have a personal learning device for the purpose of learning.

Parents are advised not to purchase digital device at the moment and wait for the announcement for the PDLP offer. Should there be an urgent need for a digital device, parents can consider purchasing a Windows-based second hand device.  Otherwise, the student can also borrow a laptop from the school (subject to availability).

Appeal for School Transfer (Primary 6 Students)

Primary 6 students who have applied to River Valley High School (RVHS) during MOE’s Secondary 1 Posting Exercise but are unsuccessful, may appeal to be considered for transfer to RVHS. These students appealing for admission to RVHS after the release of the Secondary 1 Posting result have to meet the school’s cut-off points (COP).

Students admitted to a school through the DSA-Sec Exercise will not be allowed to transfer to another school after the release of the PSLE results. They are expected to honour their commitment to the DSA school they are posted to for the full duration of the programme.

The application period is from the day of release of Secondary 1 Posting results to 27 December, 1700 hours.

Late or incomplete application will not be considered. Only shortlisted applicants will be informed by the school.

Application is to be done strictly via this form.

For your convenience, it is not necessary to submit any hard copy appeal form personally.  Students who are successful in their appeals will need to provide us with the actual documents which they have used to support their appeal for checking purposes when school reopens.

Pending the outcome of appeal, all applicants are required to report to the school that they are posted to by the Ministry of Education on Secondary 1 Registration Day.

Successful applicants will be informed by 30 December 2021.

The decision of the school’s Admissions Committee is final and the school will not enter into discussion with the applicants regarding its decision.
